to enrich lives through movement and dance
In November 2010, Carisa Armstrong and Christine Bergeron, Texas A&M University dance faculty members, along with other talented performers and choreographers, came together to transform the Armstrong Bergeron Dance Company into Brazos Dance Collective. The organization remains a non-profit modern dance company and provides an opportunity for creative, skilled and passionate artists to collaborate and share their vision with the community.
In our first season, Brazos Dance Collective produced two stage performances, sponsored master classes, performed regularly at First Friday’s Art Step, and offered a weekend long dance intensive in addition to weekly technique classes. Our spring concert featured stunning works by both company members and visiting guest artists and was a smashing success with standing room only each night. Our fall performance, held at the beautiful Margaret W. Rudder Performing Arts Center, showcased diverse pieces from choreographers all across the nation in a state-of-the-art theater, resulting in a wonderfully entertaining evening of dance.
We are so excited at the rousing success of our first year, and feel even more enthusiastic about our upcoming season. Our annual company performance, trans:figures, will be presented March 30th & 31st. In addition, BDC will host a workshop by Monica Bill Barnes and present the ever-evolving Brazos Contemporary Dance Festival. We are thrilled to perform at the Book & Dance Affair (Austin) and Big Range Austin Dance Festival. Beginning this summer, we are pleased to announce that we will be offering creative movement classes for children!
